Tax Accountant

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare tax provision schedules, returns, payments, reports and maintain the Company’s tax database
  • Find tax solutions to complicated tax issues or errors from incorrect tax filings
  • Identify legal tax savings and recommend ways to improve margins
  • Make sure that customers and vendors comply with federal, state and local tax regulations
  • Advise management about the impact of tax liabilities and corporate strategies or new tax laws
  • Assist with State Tax applications and ensuring proper tax bonds are secured for business operations.
  • Accurately prepare monthly, quarterly and annual Fuel, excise and sales tax reports
  • Keep up-to-date with tax changes and industry trends by participating in educational opportunities, participating in professional organizations, keeping up with professional networks and reading professional publications
  • Ability to enter, compare, and present data in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Develop and implement proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies.
  • Responsible to perform a variety of accounting and reporting duties related to area of accountability
  • Maintain and balance the general ledger system by inputting and verifying data with that of the ERP systems.
  • Research and implement sales tax rules and regulations
  • Assume ownership of duties as delegated by the Director of Finance and Controller, such as financial reporting, financial audit and tax preparation, and others as assigned.
  • Understand and communicate the financial and operational impact of any changes

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 4 or more years of related accounting and variance analysis experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office applications is expected
