Manufacturing/Processing Shift Supervisor- 1st Shift

Position Overview:
Employment Plus is assisting a local employer that is seeking an experienced and motivated Shift Supervisor to lead the first shift team at the manufacturing site near Renville, Minnesota. The Shift Supervisor will oversee daily operations, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining quality and safety standards. This role is essential for fostering a productive and positive work environment. The position reports to the President of North American operations.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership & Supervision:
    • Lead and manage a team of plant workers to ensure efficient and effective operations.
    • Schedule and assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and provide guidance to ensure production targets are achieved.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging teamwork and employee engagement.
  • Production Oversight:
    • Ensure that the processing of sugar beet pulp into Curran® meets production schedules and quality standards.
    • Monitor equipment and processes, making real-time decisions to resolve any issues or delays.
    • Collaborate with maintenance staff to ensure equipment is functioning optimally and address any malfunctions promptly.
  • Quality Control:
    • Oversee quality checks and ensure products meet established specifications.
    • Implement corrective actions when quality issues are identified, and work with the team to prevent recurrence.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Enforce safety protocols and ensure all team members adhere to health and safety regulations.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and training sessions to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Report any safety incidents or violations to the Plant Manager and contribute to the investigation and resolution process.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain accurate records of production metrics, employee performance, and equipment status.
    • Prepare and submit shift reports, detailing production output, downtime, and any issues encountered.
    • Assist in the recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of plant workers.

Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or processing environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment.
    • Proficiency in using production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Capability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
    • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
