Corporate Controller

Life-Science Innovations has a full-time opportunity for a Corporate Controller to join their team. The Corporate Controller is responsible for overseeing, managing, and directing the accounting systems and operations of Life Science Innovations’ (LSI) Shared Services Accounting Department. As a member of the leadership team, the Corporate Controller will work in close partnership with other leaders of Shared Services to drive effective accounting practices while promoting a strong culture of employee engagement within the Department. This position also manages consolidated financial and budget reporting for a group of related companies.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages all financial management administration, ensuring maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures in accordance with state and federal requirements and GAAP.
  • Ensures the financial system is in place to support the needs of LSI and its customers, including reviewing, evaluating and implementing accounting systems, policies and procedures to provide a more seamless automated process.
  • Oversees long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with LSI’s strategic plan. Implements budgets, including monitoring progress and presenting operational metrics and makes recommendations on modifying budgets due to potential increases in revenue or reductions of costs.
  • Oversees core services of A/P, A/R, credit, payroll, cash management, credit card administration and sales tax.
  • Maintains customer relationships and service delivery, implementing and monitoring key metrics to measure established SLAs. Calculates service fees, analyzes trends, costs, revenues, commitments and obligations incurred with customers to predict future revenue and expenses.
  • Maintains relationships with commercial bankers conducting productive discussions on terms of fees, service level, and submits regular reporting.
  • Oversees year-end audits. Addresses all management issues raised by external auditors, and report to and advise senior management.
  • Oversees monthly, quarterly and annual financial consolidation and reporting.
  • Partners with HR in overseeing benefits program evaluation.
  • Builds and engages a high performing team by selecting, on-boarding and training employees.

The ideal candidate will have the following educational and experience background:
Knowledge:
  • Strong knowledge in financial forecasting, accounting principles and financial data analysis.
  • Clear understanding of GAAP.
  • Familiarity with current finance and accounting related laws and regulations.
Skills:
  • Proficiency in all aspects of corporate accounting methods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other business software including ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written; skilled in the art of negotiation.
  • Possess strong leadership skills and business acumen.
Abilities:
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate responsibilities in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to make important decisions under pressure, with integrity and solid moral judgment.
  • Expert problem solver, analytical thinker, and decision maker.
  • Strong business partner to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional collaboration between Finance and the Shared Service Teams.
Experience:
  • Extensive experience in the financial sector with a strong financial vision and insight.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting position.
  • Previous experience leading/managing one or more accounting functions preferred.
  • Previous experience in animal health, biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry preferred.
Education:
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in business management, finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred.
